The Heart and Stroke Foundation and Irving Oil are working together this month to raise funds for education and research for the prevention of heart disease and stroke in the Atlantic Provinces. Every Friday during Heart Month it will be Heart and Stroke Day at Irving Mainway and Big Stop locations throughout Nova Scotia. 

 

“The Foundation is pleased to have Irving Oil as its corporate donor in this venture. Because of the numerous locations of Irving Mainways we are able to reach large numbers of Nova Scotians with our message,” says Jane Farquharson, Executive Director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

 

“We have supported the Heart and Stroke Foundation since 1998, raising over $220,000 for heart and stroke research and education,” says Marc Gosselin, Irving Oil’s Manager of Retail Operations for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. “We are committed to strengthening the communities in which our employees live and work and we are proud to support this worthy cause.”

 

Every Friday during the month of February, Irving Oil will donate 25 cents for every cup of coffee sold at all Irving Mainway and Big Stop locations in Nova Scotia. There will also be donation boxes in all Irving locations. Five Irving locations in the province will have additional fundraising efforts including: Robie Street Mainway in Halifax, New Minas Big Stop, Enfield Big Stop, George Street Mainway in Sydney and Lower Robie Street Mainway in Truro. Irving Oil will donate three cents for every litre of gasoline purchased at these locations between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. each Friday in February. Heart and Stroke Foundation volunteers will be on hand to promote this worthy cause.
