Bluecanoe and Mainway Stores also accepting Donations for Hurricane Disaster Aid
Saint John, NB - Irving Oil announced today it is making a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross for the Katrina Relief Effort. The company is also assisting customers who wish to donate locally by placing Red Cross collection boxes in the company’s retail sites.
Donations are now being accepted on behalf of the Red Cross at Irving Bluecanoe and Mainway stores to aid in the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
“Our thoughts are with everyone who is being affected by the hurricane disaster,” said Harry Hadiaris, director of Irving ’s convenience retail operations. “All of us at Irving are saddened by this disaster, and many of our customers have expressed a desire to help in some way. With our wide distribution network of stores, we’re pleased to offer another way people can make a contribution and help those most affected by this disaster.”
Donations can be made at more than 100 Irving locations throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia until September 30.
In times of disaster, the Red Cross provides urgently needed humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable. American Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to the hardest hit areas of Katrina’s destruction, supplying hundreds of thousands of victims left homeless with critical necessities. Volunteers and staff are currently providing clean water, food, health care and shelter materials to the people affected by the crisis.
