Customers help Irving Oil and NE Law Enforcement Officers Raise Nearly $200,000 to Fuel the Dreams of Special Olympics Athletes Over Memorial Day Weekend, Irving Donated 5 cents For Every Gallon of Gasoline Sold
Portsmouth, NH — Irving Oil and law enforcement officials from around New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts) have once again teamed up to support the dreams of Special Olympics athletes through Irving’s annual Fueling Dreams campaign. Over Memorial Day weekend, Irving donated five cents for every gallon of gasoline purchased at its Bluecanoe, Mainway and Big Stop locations throughout New England to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a Special Olympics fundraiser. This year’s fundraiser raised nearly $200,000, bringing the total to nearly one million dollars since the fundraiser began in 1995.

As part of the festivities on Saturday, May 27, which was “To Serve & Protect” day, law enforcement officers, along with Special Olympics athletes, coaches and Irving employees pumped gas, washed windshields, and greeted customers at Irving’s Bluecanoe, Mainway, and Big Stop locations across New England. In addition to Irving’s per-gallon contribution, customers were given an opportunity to make a donation directly to law enforcement professionals or Special Olympics athletes.

“We are very proud to continue our support for Special Olympics athletes with our Fueling Dreams campaign”, said Harry Hadiaris, director of convenience retail for Irving, “and we wish to thank all of our customers who stopped by over the weekend to support the cause.”

"Irving does a great job with the Fueling Dreams events. We deliberately waited until the holiday weekend to fill up at the Irving station in Meredith, as we have over the past few Memorial Day weekends, so we could make a contribution to Special Olympics. The activities were great fun, and we really enjoyed meeting Special Olympics athletes while we were there", said Chris Thompson of Farmington, NH.
