Program Overview
Earn valuable experience and training - along with a competitive
salary and benefits. As a MDP participant, you'll be preparing
for a variety of roles as a highly qualified manager in our
Business to Consumer
(B2C) team.
Start by working a variety of positions in our convenience stores as
you develop your management and leadership proficiency. After experiencing
success at the Store Manager level, your career can grow in many directions:
- Multi-Site Manager: Optimize profitability while maintaining the
efficiency and effectiveness of multiple retail stores.
- Area Sales Manager: Deliver financial results for 8-12 retail sites;
perform budgeting and planning; participate in petroleum pricing
strategy; develop, coach and train site managers and staff; and manage
community relations.
- Marketing Manager: Increase profitability at all sites within your
region; work closely with home office and field personnel; provide
leadership in business opportunities, marketing and merchandising for
your areas.
- Category Manager: Customize assortment mix and merchandising,
benchmark and performance improvements, action plans, vendor relations
and more.
- Operations Manager: Manage a portfolio of 60-100 locations with 800
people, 70-90 million gallons of product, and all convenience
retail sales categories.
Or pursue other opportunities in areas such as Finance, Accounting,
Human Resources, Information Technology and more.
Management Development Program - Summary
Purpose: To build and enhance our talent pipeline with top-performing,
enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, results-focused individuals with
potential to become future managers of our company.
Position Summary: Irving's MDP program is a structured
program geared to enhance and develop future managers of our company.
Trainees receive hands-on work experience in every phase
of our retail operation. They train in different stores while becoming
familiar with the various store-level positions and how each
contributes to overall store operations.
After successful completion of the MDP program, trainees are employed
as a Store Manager. But this is only the first step in what can be a
rewarding career with a premier oil refining and marketing company.
Successful, motivated Store Managers may pursue a career in
Management, Operations, Marketing or a number of corporate areas such
as Human Resources, Finance or IT. The comprehensive training,
knowledge and experience contributes to the growth of the individual.

Candidate Criteria:
Recent graduates or candidates approaching final year of graduate or
bachelor's degree program
