Our leadership team is responsible for leading the daily operations of Irving Oil.  Meet the team members who help guide our company:

Kevin Boyle, General Manager for Irving Blending & Packaging

General Manager for Irving Blending & Packaging, Kevin Boyle

Kevin Boyle is the General Manager for Irving Blending & Packaging.  Since joining Irving Oil in 1985, Kevin has held various positions including Production Coordinator, Production Planner and Operations Manager.  Kevin is responsible for the financial performance of the business including Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Distribution.

Kevin has a wide background in quality assurance, manufacturing and maintenance from a previous role with a manufacturing company that exported 80% of its products to the United States.

Kevin attended UNBSJ and has taken various other Executive Development programs at Concordia and Michigan Business School.  Kevin enjoys driving race cars, spending time with his children and finds enjoyment in hunting, fishing and appreciating the outdoors.

Kevin Dumaresque, Chief Financial Officer

Chief Financial Officer, Kevin Dumaresque

Kevin Dumaresque is the Chief Financial Officer for Irving Oil, responsible for the Financial Office and Information Technology.

Prior to this role, as a Deloitte partner, Kevin was responsible for our company’s external audit in addition to overseeing the internal audit processes at Irving Oil. He brings extensive experience in public accounting, primarily in auditing and business advisory services, to the company.  Kevin’s experience also includes six years as a Director of Internal Audit at a Crown Corporation and lecturer at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Kevin is Vice-President of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Board Member of the Atlantica Centre for Energy. He also co-chairs the Business & Community Development Committee of the Saint John Board of Trade, and is a Board Member and Treasurer of Special Olympics New Brunswick.

Kevin and his wife Valerie have three children and one granddaughter.

Ken Flemming, CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER, Ken Flemming

Ken Flemming is responsible for establishing and executing the strategic planning process across Irving Oil.  He has been a member of the Executive Team for several years.

Prior to this, Ken was the General Manager for Irving Oil’s Commercial division. He has also held positions such as Finance Officer, Director of Resources and Physical Assets, General Manager of Supply, Planning and Trading, and Refinery Business Manager. While holding these various positions, Ken was responsible for several large capital programs at the Refinery and other parts of the company.

Ken is originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Mary’s University, with a double major in finance and economics.

Ken and his wife Wanda have two daughters.

Darren Gillis, General Manager of Irving Energy

Darren is the General Manager of Irving Energy Distribution and Marketing.  In his current role, Darren leads the Residential and Commercial Business for heating oil, diesel, propane and natural gas marketing. He is also responsible for compressed natural gas business development.

Darren joined Irving Oil in 1987 as a Manager of Speedy Propane in Prince Edward Island.  Since then he has held various positions including, Manager of Speedy Propane’s St. John’s Branch, Provincial Manager of Propane for Newfoundland and Labrador, Regional Manager of Western Newfoundland and Labrador, General Manager of the Heating Division, and Manager of the Customer Contact Center.

Darren has also held various project and strategy development roles in cost leadership, customer service, and business transformation.

Darren has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Prince Edward Island with a major in Marketing.

Darren and his wife Leeanne have three children.

David Glassberg, Chief Legal and Governance Officer

David Glassberg is a member of Irving Oil’s Executive Team. He also serves as the Company’s Chief Legal and Governance Officer, with responsibility for Legal Affairs, Government Relations, Governance and Security. He has been with our Company since 2001.

David is a graduate of Colgate University (1972) and Albany Law School (1975).

Harry Hadiaris, General Manager of Irving Oil Marketing

General Manager of Irving Oil Marketing, Harry Hadiaris

Harry Hadiaris is General Manager of Irving Oil Marketing.  He has been with our company for 12 years and throughout his tenure, had responsibility for all retail activities in New England.  Harry has extensive experience in all aspects of the retail and wholesale petroleum industry, including marketing, acquisitions and integrations.

Harry received his undergraduate degree from Colby College and his MBA from Krannert School of Business at Purdue University.

Harry is married to Marcia and they have two children.

Jonathan McKenzie, Chief Commercial Officer

Jon joined the Irving Oil Executive Team in May 2011. As Chief Commercial Officer, he is responsible for the economic performance of the liquid supply chain of our overall business. In addition, he oversees Strategic Planning, Supply Management and Business Development for our company.

Previously, Jon worked at Suncor Energy Inc. where he held the position of Vice President and Controller. He has worked with Suncor in various capacities since 2001 including: Vice President, Finance Integration and Sustainment; Vice-President Upgrading Operations; General Manager, Operations Support; Director, Financial Operations (Oilsands) and Manager, Investor Relations.

Jon has also worked with Crestar Energy Inc. as Treasury Manager; Manager, Oil and Gas Marketing and, Business Development Manager, South America as well as Arthur Andersen & Co. as a Senior Accountant. Jon is a Chartered Accountant and he has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta.

Jon and his wife Debbie have five children.

Kevin Scott, Chief Human Resource and Public Affairs Officer

Kevin joined Irving Oil in 1992. He is responsible for the Human Resource and Public Affairs teams across the company.

Prior to assuming this role, Kevin was responsible for leading Supply and Trading, which has commercial responsibility for our petroleum supply chain. He has also held various positions within the company including Refining growth projects, production planning and process operations.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.

He and his wife Nicky have four children who keep them active with speed skating.  In the community, Kevin volunteers with youth sports and leadership groups.

Mark Sherman, General Manager of Irving Oil Refining

General Manager of Irving Oil Refining, Mark Sherman

Mark joined Irving Oil in 2008 as the General Manager of the Irving Oil Refinery. Prior to this, Mark worked in Fort McMurray for 25 years with Syncrude, the world’s largest producer of synthetic crude oil from oil sands. While with Syncrude, Mark held several operations positions, including Vice-President of Operations.

As General Manager of the Irving Oil Refinery, Mark is responsible for operations of Canada's largest refinery in Saint John, N.B., which has reached production rates in excess of 300,000 barrels per day. The refinery exports over 80 per cent of its production to the U.S., and accounts for 75 per cent of Canada's gasoline exports to the U.S.

Mark grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program at the Technical University of Nova Scotia. Mark also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from Mount Allison University. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.

Mark and his wife Teri have three children. Mark enjoys working in the community; he has coached minor hockey and baseball for many years. He also assisted in developing partnerships with local schools in Fort McMurray and Saint John that focus on developing apprenticeship opportunities for high school students and growing our provincial workforce.
