Celebrating diversity

Welcoming and supporting LGBTQ employees doesn’t end when the Pride season is over

Families come in all shapes and sizes. At Irving Oil, we celebrate LGBTQ+ and QTBIPOC communities and seek out ways to show our support for inclusion in our workplaces and communities.

One of the ways we celebrate our commitment to diversity is by participating in Pride events in the communities where we live and work. Over the years, our participation in Pride has grown from Saint John, NB, and Halifax, NS, to include Portsmouth, NH, and Dublin, Ireland.

Our commitment to diversity continues all year with our Diversity & Inclusion Council, which works to identify ways to advance workplace diversity and inclusion.

Council member Marisa Christensen says that the group is “not just about cultural diversity, it’s about diversity in our thinking and decision-making. Allowing people to be themselves every day will enable them to be their best at their jobs.”

Mandatory Unconscious Bias training for leaders, which challenges our perceptions and stereotypes, is also now an important part of our professional development offering.
