Deer Lake Big Stop and Donovan’s Irving (Mount Pearl)

Body

Customers who stop in to our Deer Lake Big Stop and Donovan’s Irving in Mount Pearl always get the hometown treatment, says Charles Short, who owns these locations with his wife, Kariss Lidstone. That means having servers who know your name and how you take your coffee.

Located on the Trans-Canada Highway at the junction to access the Northern Peninsula and the Port-Aux-Basques ferry, our Deer Lake Big Stop provides a welcome rest for travellers, Professional Drivers and locals alike.

Our Donovan’s Irving, located in bustling Mount Pearl, offers homestyle comfort food that locals know and love.

Charles and Kariss are happy to continue the family business handed down from Kariss’s father, Terry Lidstone, who operated several Irving Oil locations over the years.

“We’re proud to serve and support our local community here at home,” Charles says.

Goobies Big Stop and Clarenville Irving

Body

There is a story around every corner in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dean Madden, operator of the Irving Goobies Big Stop and Clarenville restaurants, has heard his fair share. As his customers – locals, travellers and Professional Drivers – sit for a cup of tea or a bowl of his famous homemade turkey vegetable soup, Dean and his team relish the day-to-day banter and close ties shared by those who visit his locations.

Goobies Big Stop has a few stories of its own – from Bill Goobie’s sawmill of 1939 to the 10-ton Morris the Moose, which reminds drivers to be safe.

Visit our Goobies or Clarenville locations for great food, great service and a few spirited tales.
