Overlooking the Canso Causeway in Aulds Cove, NS, our Aulds Cove Big Stop has been serving good energy and homestyle food for more than 35 years.

Arnold and Jackie Hurley of Oxford, NS, have been operating the site since its grand re-opening in 2019 – a big celebration that included a pie-eating contest and a performance by the Barra MacNeils. With many years of experience operating Irving Oil sites in Atlantic Canada, Arnold and Jackie have a passion for their communities and dedication to great food and service. Most importantly, Arnold says, “our customers feel at home.”

While thick milkshakes, mile-high meringue pies and a great traditional breakfast will always hit the spot,  “our restaurants are more than a place to eat, they are a place to connect with those who have become friends, to see people who greet you by name,” says Michele Ryan, owner and operator of both the Digby and New Minas Big Stop Restaurants.

Deeply rooted in the communities that they serve, Michele and her team welcome all, offering an open ear and genuine care for their customers. “Our customer service extends beyond serving great food. We genuinely know and care for one another. We celebrate their successes and mourn their losses.”
