Irving Oil Delivers First Natural Gas By Truck To Mccain Facility In Easton, Maine

Publication date

EASTON, ME — Today, Irving Oil announced the delivery of the first natural gas shipment by truck to McCain Foods in Easton, Maine. McCain is one of Irving Oil’s newest natural gas industrial customers to receive compressed natural gas (CNG) by truck.

“Truck-delivered natural gas is at the leading-edge of natural gas technology and it represents the most efficient way to deliver the benefits of natural gas to regions not supplied by pipelines,” said Paul Browning, President and CEO, Irving Oil. “This represents the opportunity for an alternative energy source for our large industrial customers and the potential of significant energy costs savings.”

Frank Finn, President of McCain Foods USA, said the cost savings provided by the conversion to natural gas were critical to the company’s productivity agenda but noted that there were other benefits as well.

Trucked natural gas is similar to the transportation of gasoline or propane, and Irving Oil has safely handled and delivered energy in multiple forms to customers for decades.

“Every day our employees make over 6000 deliveries by truck.  Delivered natural gas is an extension of our existing capabilities and great for customers who don’t currently have access to the natural gas pipeline.” said Browning.
