Together, we can make a difference
Providing fuel gift cards to families in need of a lift
By providing fuel gift cards to families in need of a lift, Irving Oil’s Fuel the Care program has helped bridge the distance between home and hospital for more than 100,000 local families with children requiring medical care.
When you support Irving Oil or Top Oil, you’re helping Fuel the Care and making a difference – all year long.
Our Fuel the Care program is made possible through partnerships with hospitals in Atlantic Canada, Québec, New England and Ireland.
Each year, Irving Oil provides the hospitals with fuel gift cards to be distributed to families who need help with the cost of travel for medical care for a child. Together, we’ve been able to help give more than 100,000 families a lift when they need it most.

Meet Maude
Since 2018, Maude the duck has been an integral part of our Fuel the Care branding, symbolizing the essence of our program and the families it supports. Just like her name - which means 'powerful battler' - this yellow duckling embodies the same strength as our Fuel the Care children as they bravely battle illnesses, often travelling long distances to receive medical care.
For the 20th anniversary of our Fuel the Care program, Maude was brought to life through the talent of local New Brunswick fibre artist, Bella McBride. Maude was created using wool roving, which was hand-dyed at Briggs & Little, a woolen mill that has operated in New Brunswick since 1916. This new life-size rendition of Maude has been designed to honour the brave children and families our Fuel the Care program has supported over the years.
