Together, we can make a difference
Since 2002, through partnerships with hospitals in Eastern Canada, New England and Ireland, Irving Oil’s Fuel the Care program has provided fuel gift cards to more than 120,000 families travelling to receive medical care for their child.
Every time a customer visits an Irving Oil location, chooses Irving Energy to heat their homes or enjoys a homestyle meal at our Irving Big Stop Restaurant, they’re helping support the Fuel the Care program.
Customers who visit our sites in Halifax, NS, and Pembroke, MA, can also support Fuel the Care by filling up at a Fuel the Care Pump. More information about the pumps and where you’ll find them is available here.
Our Fuel the Care program is made possible through partnerships with hospitals in Eastern Canada, New England and Ireland.
Each year, Irving Oil provides the hospitals with fuel gift cards to be distributed to families travelling to receive medical care for their children. Through these partnerships, more than 120,000 families have benefitted from more than $7 million invested into the program.
To access the program, families can contact the Social Work departments at our partner hospitals. Click here for a complete list.

Meet Maude
Since 2018, Maude the duck has been an integral part of our Fuel the Care branding, symbolizing the essence of our program and the families it supports. Just like her name − which means 'powerful battler' − this yellow duckling embodies the same strength as our Fuel the Care children as they bravely battle illnesses, often travelling long distances to receive medical care. Maude was brought to life through the talent of local New Brunswick fibre artist, Bella McBride.
