Giving families a lift when they need it most
Tori loves to dance. She loves baby dolls, unicorns and lipstick. This six-year-old is always smiling, says her mother, Amanda.
And ever since Tori was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare blood disorder caused by failed bone marrow development, her playful spirit has carried her family through some of their most difficult days.
“She’s always happy, always singing and dancing. She doesn’t let anything get her down,” Amanda says. “She keeps us going.”
Fuel the Care Day
Irving Oil’s Fuel the Care program has helped bridge the distance between home and hospital for more than 65,000 local families with children requiring medical care.
When you support Irving Oil, any time throughout the year, you’re helping Fuel the Care.
On Friday, October 11, it’s our turn to thank you by pumping gas and washing windshields at select Irving Oil gas stations.
Lily-Jade and her parents are inseparable. They go everywhere together. It’s the strength of their family bond that gets them through the toughest times.
“We’re together all the time – the three of us – never apart,” says Caroline, Lily-Jade’s mom. The Québec family’s favourite place to make happy memories is the local zoo. But at just two years old, Lily-Jade also has scary memories of the countless hours she has spent in hospital.
Our Fuel the Care program is made possible through partnerships with seven hospitals in Atlantic Canada, New England and Québec.
Each year, Irving Oil provides the hospitals with fuel gift cards to be distributed to families who need help with the cost of travel for medical care for a child. Together, we’ve been able to help give more than 65,000 families a lift when they need it most.
