Irving Oil Celebrates Grand Opening Of New Enfield Big Stop And Restaurant
Further Redevelopment Planned Across Irving Oil Travel Plaza Network
ENFIELD, NS —Irving Oil is celebrating the grand opening of the Enfield Big Stop this week in Nova Scotia. The Big Stop represents a significant investment in the region and was built to better serve professional drivers, the travelling public and local residents. For professional drivers, the expanded lounge has large and comfortable chairs, big screen entertainment, high-end hotel quality showers and other new amenities. For the travelling public and local residents, parking capacity has been increased, the restaurant is larger and the convenience store has nearly doubled in size.
“Our investment in Enfield represents the latest generation of Big Stops as we redevelop our network of travel plazas from the 401 to St. John’s,” says Darren Gillis, Chief Marketing Officer for Irving Oil. “We’ve listened to our customers and incorporated their ideas and preferences into this new modern design, but while a lot has changed, our commitment to professional drivers and families remains the same.
The new Big Stop occupies 17 acres of land, has a foot print of 17 000 ft², employs 100 people from the community and includes a much larger 193 seat restaurant, a 4400 ft² convenience store operated by our partner Circle K and improved green spaces. The Big Stop and restaurant is decorated with local history and Irving OiI nostalgia and the restaurant takes its name, Crossing, from where the road crossed the Shubenacadie River before the name “Enfield” was adopted in 1862.
Irving Oil partner, Cobalt Properties, is developing additional locations on the site and a Tim Horton’s is presently under construction.
Irving Oil invites the community to attend the grand opening celebration of the Enfield Big Stop and Crossing restaurant, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday, June 21, 2014. Celebration activities will include face painting, games, racecar displays, inflatable castles, live music and a chance to win 10 000 Air Miles® reward miles!
