Irving Oil’s Funshine Club Sending 100 Kids to Summer Camp
SAINT JOHN, NB — Irving Oil is sending 100 children to the YMCA’s Camp Glenburn this summer. The children, ages 7-11, will spend their time at camp swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and learning about nature. Each child sponsored by Irving Oil’s Funshine Club will be transported to and from Camp Glenburn and will be outfitted with sleeping bags, flashlights and other supplies so they can enjoy a care-free week at camp.
“The YMCA, through Camp Glenburn, builds confidence, teaches leadership, fosters creativity and respect for the environment in children; these are some of the same values we uphold at Irving Oil,” says Kevin Scott, Chief Human Resources and Public Affairs Officer at Irving Oil. “We’re proud to support this program - by helping kids just be kids while at Camp Glenburn, they learn important life skills and, best of all, they’ll have fun doing it; and that’s part of our commitment to our communities’ kids.”

Camp Glenburn, located on the Kingston Peninsula, offers programs featuring activities that foster creativity, confidence and leadership development with a focus on connecting children with nature. Established in 1928 by the Saint John YWCA, Camp Glenburn has helped shape campers’ childhoods for generations. In 1949, the camp moved to its current site on the Belleisle Bay, Kingston Peninsula and today, Camp Glenburn is the YMCA’s only overnight camp in New Brunswick.
