    Background

I was born and raised on the west side of Saint John, where I attended both Barnhill Middle School and Harbour View High School, graduating high school in 2016. After taking my first accounting class in high school, I grew an interest in it and decided to pursue a Bachelors of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting and Minor in Finance at the University of New Brunswick Saint John. After university, I pursued my CPA Designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) and successfully completed it in 2023.

Accounting and Finance ultimately boils down to being good with math, enjoying puzzles and ultimately seeking to understand the "why" behind different circumstances. There's always something new to learn and to understand, and that's what keeps it all so interesting to me.

    Career

In my current role as a Senior Accountant, I do the accounting for all of Irving Oil's Canadian Environmental Compliance programs. This involves working with many people across the business as we work to calculate the financial impact of producing emissions, buying renewable fuels and ultimately trying to reduce our overall carbon footprint.

My favourite part of my job is working with people who come from different educational backgrounds and experiences! While you can learn lots from your own work, growing your network of understanding through coworkers can be a great way to network and learn.
