Background
I grew up in East Saint John in the Red Head area. I attended East Saint John Elementary, Bayside Junior High and Simonds High School. After high school, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces reserves and held the rank of Master Bombardier when I left. I joined Irving Oil part-time in 1993, pumping gas at the Garden Street Irving. Although the job was supposed to be temporary, it’s been 32 years so far.
Career
My current role is managing our Canadian Wholesale business. I manage a group of customers that own other fuel companies and gas stations around Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario. I am responsible for more than 800 million litres of fuel being sold to this group. Since starting out pumping gas, I have had several roles in my career, such as: Retail Manager, Propane Plant Manager, Heating Equipment Sales, Commercial Account Manager, Commercial Sales Manager and Manager of Irving Commercial Sales and Support, Canadian Key Account Manager, Fleet Services. All of these roles have one thing in common: customers value good service and strong account managers who can form lasting relationships with them. Also, it is very important to have a good attitude and a willingness to learn new things and become a master at setting and achieving goals.
