Your well-being is our priority

At Irving Oil, safety is always our first priority, and central to everything we do. As we respond to the ongoing situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, our focus on the safety of our employees, our customers and our communities remains constant.

As part of our efforts to always provide a safe operating environment, we have taken precautionary measures across our business, including travel limitations and restricted visitor access to our facilities. Furthermore, we have enhanced the frequency and intensity of our cleaning activities, all consistent with government-mandated instructions.

Big Stop Restaurant customers

The same homestyle favourites you know and love are still available at most of our Big Stop locations by takeout. 

Here's how we're still serving our customers and Professional Drivers: 

  • While our restaurant dining areas are closed, our takeout remains open in many of our restaurants to continue to serve the public and our Professional Drivers. Find our takeout menu and hours of operation here.
  • The following Big Stop Restaurants are temporarily closed, including takeout. Please note that Professional Driver facilities, where available, continue to remain open:

Irving Oil gas station customers

  • Our gas stations will remain open for our customers on the road, and most offer the option to pay at the pump.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are provided at the pump at many of our locations.
  • When inside our convenience stores, we are asking our staff and customers to please respect safe social distancing measures.
  • Consider paying with debit or credit when inside the convenience store.

Card-based loyalty programs

As part of our enhanced safety measures, we ask our customers to please swipe your loyalty card at the pump when possible. Our programs include AIR MILES™ (Atlantic Canada) and Récompenses Irving (Québec). 

Irving Energy customers

  • Our walk-in payment offices are temporarily closed. Please visit My Account for online payment options, or call 1.888.310.1924.
  • For all home and business deliveries, we are asking all our employees, including Drivers and Technicians, to respect the social distancing safety measures.
  • For all on-site service appointments where our employees are required to enter home or business, we are taking extra precautions, and will be pre-screening customers to reduce risk. 
  • If you receive and/or pay upon delivery or service, please note that until further notice, our Drivers and Technicians will no longer take cash payments, or provide delivery slips to the door.

Fleet & Professional Drivers

Some precautionary measures that could impact service levels include:

  • Our Professional Drivers lounges are closed in Ontario, New England and Québec but are still currently open in Atlantic Canada. We will continue to provide clean washrooms, hot showers and free Wi-Fi for all our Drivers while they’re on the road.
  • The dining areas in our Big Stop Restaurants are closed but most will continue to provide takeout options.
  • Our Springfield Vermont Travel Stop will be closed between 12 am and 4 am. This includes the convenience store, lounge and showers. IRVING 24 fuel remains available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
  • The following Big Stop and travel stop restaurants are temporarily closed until further notice:

Terminal customers

Some precautionary measures that could impact service levels include:

  • Documents are to be submitted electronically at all terminals and no handheld forms will be accepted.
  • There will be no direct contact between visitors and staff.  We ask visitors to please use on-site radios or intercoms to communicate with Irving Oil terminal employees.
  • Additional security signage and instructions will be implemented on-site.

Irving Aviation customers

We would like to make our customers aware of process changes including what to expect when your flight arrives. This applies particularly to passenger screening and key ground handling services at our FBOs.

New process at Irving Aviation FBO & CBSA as a result of COVID-19:

  • CBSA is screening all inbound flights.
  • Crew and passengers are requested to remain on the aircraft. Do not disembark.
  • Access to the FBO facility is no longer permitted at this time.
  • Local hotels and restaurants are limited in providing services as Newfoundland and Labrador has declared a public health emergency.
  • Visit www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/ for further information from the province.
  • We are requesting that payment of fuel purchases, ground handling services and landing fees be applied to the account designated on the fuel release.

In addition to the new screening processes and overnight restrictions, specific ground handling services are being scaled back to ensure the continued safety of our employees and operations. 

These scaled-back services include:

  • International waste removal from the aircraft.
  • Lavatory services in key locations.
  • Greeting of flights upon arrival.
  • Entering an aircraft for any purpose.

Irving Blending & Packaging customers

Some additional precautionary measures:

  • No direct contact between visitors and staff.
  • Social-distancing measures should be practiced at all times.
  • Drivers picking up product will remain in their vehicles when possible.
  • We require any person entering the facility to sanitize and answer a screening questionnaire.
  • If a visitor answers yes to any of the screening questions, they will not be permitted to enter the facility. Social distancing will remain in effect for this procedure.
  • No cash transactions are permitted. We ask our customers to please use credit or debit for your transaction.
  • Please be advised lead times have changed for the following products: Irving products will now have a seven-day lead time and Cobra products will have a 10-day lead time.
